Our May Mission team met with Vasile Barin, the Country Coordinator for Moldova and was pleased to hear that Dorcas had selected Cornerstone to be their partner of choice for southern Moldova. We currently have a joint project with the Youth Camp. Dorcas funded the cost of having 1000 youth attend the camp this past summer. They also covered the administrative cost of running the camps for the summer. Since the meeting in May, we have been asked to submit a project request for the rehabilitation center that will minister to girls aged 12-17. These girls have no families and are at risk of being caught up in the people trafficking underworld.
Lured by the promise of jobs and having no family that will miss them, they end up as slaves and many being made to be prostitutes. Mitica’s vision is to take as many of these at risk youth into a Christian setting to help establish their lives and place them in Christian homes in Moldova. We have a verbal approval from Dorcas for support of this project in the amount of 70,000 Euros per year for three years beginning in January 2006.
We need to find sponsors for 12 girls to begin in September of this year. Please pray that the Lord’s blessing will be on the approval for the final paperwork from Dorcas. And also for the Lord to touch the hearts of those who can help fund the needs for this year.
